SmartSuisse will not take place as planned on 18-19 March 2020

Dear partners, visitors and sponsors of SmartSuisse,
Due to the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and the associated current situation, the Federal Council prohibited the staging of major events involving more than 1000 people in Switzerland on Friday 28 February 2020. This ban will apply at least until 15 March 2020.
For events with less than 1000 people, a permit is required from the cantonal health authorities, with whom we are in intensive daily contact.
We regret to inform you now that we will not be able to hold the forthcoming SmartSuisse in Basel from 18-19 March 2020 as planned because the cantonal health authorities of the Canton of Basel City cannot grant a permit for it in the current situation. We will now consider postponing and implementing SmartSuisse at a later date.
Over the past 12 months, the SmartSuisse team has put together the 4th Congress with accompanying exhibition and a visit to the Smart City Lab in Basel with a lot of passion, commitment and enthusiasm. We are very disappointed that SmartSuisse cannot take place at the scheduled time. However, the health and safety of the participants is our top priority. We continue to hope that the spread of the virus can soon be stopped and our sympathy goes out to those affected by the disease.
We thank you for your interest in participating SmartSuisse and for your understanding.
Kind regards,
Your SmartSuisse Team
